Bracken management

Bracken is an invasive species which restricts the growth of desirable plants within a habitat, it is a particular problem in the uplands, where it also restricts public access and acts as a medium by which sheep tics are transferred.  There are a number options for the control of this species.

We can:

  • Reduce the vigour of bracken by mechanical means
  • Cut and Collect bracken for composting
  • Cut and bail bracken for agricultural uses
  • Treat bracken chemically where other options are not practicable
  • Advise on the best combination of methodologies to control bracken
  • Where bracken control is to be undertaken over a period of time

We can:

  • Produce bracken management plans
  • Set up monitoring programmes to quantify the change
  • Provide sustainable options to the use of the material
